Japanese Post and Beam Shade Structure

This Fujidana Kit is fabricated from Select Tight Knot Western Red Cedar timbers. The stock is left rough sawn and full dimensioned, with a beautiful rustic texture. We carefully machine, and hand-sand each piece, just enough to remove the fuzz and emphasize the texture, and all edges and ends of the timbers are also carefully sanded and rounded-over. The rolls of copper-tied Bamboo throw a wonderful shade on a hot day.

All pieces come pre-drilled for assembly, and all the fasteners, bamboo rolls, copper post bases and copper edge trim are included. With this Kit, you must trim the rolls of bamboo after they’ve been attached to the structure. The preferred tool for trimming is a circular saw with a long straight edge as a guide.

After trimming, the roof / bamboo edge is capped with copper edge trim. If desired, you can seal the pieces, before assembly, with a high quality oil sealer to retain the rustic beauty. The posts are set into concrete footings at least 3’ deep, depending on you local soil and frost conditions.
